Lulu Guinness x Disney
Designer collaborations are always fun and exciting because they can give new light on something people may have forgotten about, or they can provide a great new take on what could be considered a very rigid brand. This year we have seen some fantastic collaboration between existing brands and fabulous designers, and this is no exception to the mix. Launching in London for LFW, Lulu Guinness has combined forces with Disney to celebrate the style icon that is Minnie Mouse. Lulu has created two one-off, “Minnie Mouse Must Have” bags. Lulu’s interpretation of Minnie was done with an inclusion of Minnie’s classic bows as well as her signature and trademark polka dots thus creating the “large” and the “Minnie” bags.
Guinness’ bags will be unveiled during London Fashion Week as mentioned earlier and will be released along with many other international designers who have interpreted Minnie’s style such as Giles, Richard Nicoll as well as Meadham Kirchoff. These designs are all being auctioned off together on eBay in order to help support the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation. Having long cited Minnie Mouse as one of her influences it was quite evident in her Cruise ’12 collection this year, which featured a broad range of Polka Dot bags as well as accessories.
“I wanted to use Minnie Mouse’s iconic face, signature bows and polka dots to create a truly unique bag which is both playful and stylish and really brings Minnie Mouse to life.”
