How to Wear: Printed Pants
Last year, when fashion editors and bloggers attended New York fashion week in printed jeans and silk pajamas it was chic but hardly a trend prevalent enough for the average girl to add to her wardrobe. Fast-forward to the summer of 2012 and it seems every store is stocked with printed pants.
Follow our three, easy tips to rocking printed pants this summer and the whole neighborhood will wonder if you’re a fashion editor!
Ease yourself into the trend by choosing a fabric and print that you’re comfortable wearing!
If you never go wide-leg then those loose pajama bottoms might not be for you.
Don’t like a lot of color?
Try a pair of blue jeans with a subtle white or blue pattern rather than a bright, floral one.
For a subtle print we like Free People’s Feather Print Cropped Skinny Jeans in “denim combo”.
If you want to try a pajama-inspired, printed bottom without feeling like you’ve just left your boudoir, Citizens of Humanity’s Birdie Drawstring wide leg pants lightly touches on both trends. To keep your wide-leg look balanced, make sure to pair it with a fitted top.
When jumping into colorful prints the best way to style them is to focus on one color in the pattern.
Take a cue from style blogger Shea Marie by matching a color that especially pops in your top.
The yellow in Textile Elizabeth & James’ Tropical skinny jeans is minimal but stands out so style it with a similar lemon top like the Neon Pop Tank by Collective Concepts in Electric Yellow.
Finally, with such bold pants, find a simple shoe in a neutral shade and remember, the higher the better!
House of Harlow’s Nadya sling back in powder is a perfect nude to match any prints while Jimmy Choo’s black India sandal will dress them up for a night out.
