Fall Shopping Essentials
It’s only mid-August and the temperature is already dropping, leading people away from their shorts and tank tops and back to their jackets and sweaters. A new season means a new wardrobe, or re-vamping the one you currently have. Putting your bikinis in the back of your drawers and moving jeans, flannels, and tights to the front is only the beginning of preparing for fall. One of my favourite e-commerce sites, Shopbop, has made a list of their fall essentials. From a moto jacket to a statement scarf, the 10 items they have chosen are ones I would like to incorporate into my wardrobe this fall. In fact, I was so inspired that I decided to make a Polyvore set of my take on their fall essentials.
1 Moto Jacket
On the Shopbop website, they featured a moto jacket by Diane von Furstenburg. Although I’m partial to DVF, when I found this Just Cavalli jacket on Polyvore, it was like I struck a gold mine. I love the belted bottom as well as the sleek look of the zipper going shoulder to hip.
2 Pencil Skirt
Shopbop featured a coated skirt by 3X1 that was very nice, but to plain jane for my liking. I decided to up the anti and found that this Mary Katrantzou skirt would be the perfect addition to my already mainly black and white wardrobe.
3 Long-Sleeved Dress
The long-sleeve dress by Parker on Shopbop is to die for. I love that dress so much and I think you should to. I was also on the hunt for another dress though. Mara Hoffman caught my attention with this peacock and elephant print dress that only she could pull off. With cut-outs below the colour, I knew it was meant to be true that I found this winner.
4 Schoolgirl Blazer
If I was a rich girl, my wardrobe would consist of mainly Rag & Bone pieces. The schoolgirl blazer that Shopbop picked by the brand is gorgeous, with black lapels and a charcoal colour. I opted for a more feminine choice and found that this See by Chloé apricot coloured tuxedo blazer was magnificent. They even have matching apricot trousers! Heart eyes for days.
5 Slouchy Jeans
Aka the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans. Shopbop showed a cuffed pair of faded, slouchy and soft jeans by FRAME Denim. These Rag & Bone beauties stole my heart right away. They speak for themselves, don’t you think?
6 Riding Boots
My heart skipped a beat when Shopbop featured the most gorgeous Rag & Bone riding boots. For $746, they’re out of my price range, but the memory will stay in my heart. When I saw these Mulberry riding boots it was love at first sight. They go for $1, 140 so I won’t be adding this specific pair to my wardrobe, but I will be on the hunt for a pair to fill the hole in my heart these two pairs created.
7 Go-With-All Coat
The most perfect tan jacket with textured leather sleeves was invented by Club Monaco and showcased on the list of Shopbop’s fall essentials. This coat is something I would have came up with in my dreams, it’s that good. I think that every girl needs to own the perfect trenchcoat in their closet. This one by 3.1 Phillip Lim could be worn over any outfit and it’s the perfect look for this fall.
8 Crew-Neck Sweater
I have a soft spot for Equipment sweaters and shirts. When I scroll on Instagram, I feel like I always see bloggers and editors wearing their perfect shirts. This crew-neck sweater is cashmere and the most perfect shade of blue. I found another shade of blue beauty in this crew-neck by Lacoste. The colour is bright but it will be a nice touch on those cool autumn nights.
9 Updated Sweatshirt
This innovative basket weave sweatshirt by L’AGENCE adds a modern touch to a classic style. Styled with the sleeves pushed up, it looks like the kind of sweater I would never want to take off. To add another print to my set, I found this UNIF yin yang sweater and fell in love. With tears in the bottom and a longer back, it’s the perfect sweatshirt to throw on over a pair of leggings. Just another killer example of how great UNIF is.
10 Statement Scarf
The black and white Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf shown is a piece I will covet to add to my wardrobe. I love black and white because you can pair them with anything, and this scarf reminds me of Edward Gorey’s old cartoons. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I chose a colourful Emilio Pucci scarf. Red, yellow, black and white come together perfectly to create a sleek and stylish scarf.
