Nicholas K Men

One of the best parts about having a fashion blog is that you get to learn more and more about different brands and their designers each day. Before starting this site I had never heard of Nicholas K (I know, I should be ashamed) but I remember seeing the product for the first time on their site and being blown away. It was just so different. It was a mix between classic and edgy. It was something that depending on who you are it could be trendy seasonal clothes, or for that person with a hard defined style, it could be a series of wardrobe staples. That was what initially drew me to the brand was its ability to cross those borders.

So when a new season comes around (especially my favorite fashion season fall) it means that I get to be treated to seeing newer and greater pieces from Nicholas K, a brand that constantly out does itself. For their fall/winter 2012 collection the sibling design duo Nicholas Kunz and Christopher Kunz took inspiration from their Arizona roots. Looking like a desert explorer collection mixed with New York street style, the pieces feature faux coyote furs, shearling, fringe and even metallic print taken from desert snakes. It contains a beautiful palette of colors drawing from blacks, charcoals, the brown found within eagle feathers, sands and stone hues all painting a picture of a remote landscape and harsh desert predators.

I’d say apart from the clothing, the looks created were my favorite part of this collection. Layered like a true desert traveler, the looks are heavy and complex yet give the eye a discernable start and end, and allow you to follow the look and see how it is put together. They are extremely well executed and add to the overall feel of the collection by adding a feeling of authenticity with its styling. Overall the entire collection was exquisitely made, beautifully styled and is sure to be a best seller.
